Ohio Martial Arts Championships

Divisions & Weight Classes

Juvenile & Adult

**Age based on age on January 1st of current year**

Juvenile (ages 4 - 17)

Skill Level Guidelines

Skill levels are determined by time spent training continuously in any comparable martial art. For example, a wrestler would apply that experience to grappling competitions - 3 or more years in high school must enter at least intermediate division.

Novice/Beginner: Up to one year of training in any martial art

Intermediate: Up to three (3) years of training in any martial art

Advanced: Over three (3) years training in any martial art

Juvenile division skill levels are commonly combined for grappling. OMC manually creates juvenile divisions, and sorts competitors by age and weight, and then by skill to ensure that matches are safe for all competitors.

Jiu-Jitsu Belt Guidelines

Any juvenile that has been awarded a blue belt (adult level) must compete in the advanced division (juvenile), regardless of time training. Juvenile blue belts can also choose to compete in the adult intermediate division and adult intermediate or advanced submission.
